Not too much longer

Well, this may be my last entry before the baby is born and I don't know when I'll update after...

It's been pretty busy in these here parts:  a broken down car, 2 surprise baby showers, my little dude's birthday, training at work, more appointments, baby shopping, baby stuff organizing, etc.

LB turned 5 years old yesterday.  My goodness, where has time gone?

At work I've been training two other people to take over two of my daily duties when I go on maternity leave next week.  I thought it would free up more time to do normal work, but it has actually taken more time.

I finally got up the nerve yesterday to talk to my manager about working part-time from home after I return from maternity leave.  I've been fretting about this for months.  I don't know why...the worst she could say is "no", though that would leave me feeling totally defeated and kind of embarrassed.  Her response when I asked and gave her my list of 9 reasons why it would be beneficial for the company and personally:  "That's a great idea!  I don't know why I didn't think of that myself!"  And then she went on to say that I meet all of the qualifications and describe the things I would need and part of the teleworking policy.

That just goes to show that anxiety and worrying is a complete waste of time.  And that requesting things from your boss only in the beginning of the week because of such and such reason isn't necessarily accurate (I've been trying for the last 2-3 weeks to talk to her on a Monday-Wednesday and there was always a reason why I couldn't).  Will I remember all of this the next time something comes up that I need to ask for?  Probably not.

Needless to say, I am relieved and this eases some of our concerns about childcare.  And I can't wait to share the news with my therapist.  I think she'll be pleased that I finally took that step.

I've had lots of doctor visits and ultrasounds since the last time I wrote...whenever that was.  Everything seems to be okay with Peanut, though as of Tuesday the umbilical artery problem is now in the abnormal range.  I think I'm so close, though, that the OB isn't too concerned.  He's still moving around quite a bit and while there seem to be inconsistencies in the measurements taken by the sonographers, he is still growing...we just don't know how big he will be.  Last Friday he was estimated to be 6 lbs 7 oz +/- 1 lb, then Tuesday he was estimated to weigh over 7 lbs.  I know he did not gain over half of a pound in just 4 days.  His femur was also measuring somewhere in the 33 weeks range last Friday (3-4 weeks behind), and Tuesday he was in the 36 week range (about 1 week behind).

Hubby put together the bassinet the other night.  When he was finished and left the room I just stood there staring at the inside of it, a mental image of Peanut sleeping in there all swaddled and cozy.  I think that's the first time I could actually imagine him being home with us.

We have parent-teacher conferences on Monday morning, then another ultrasound and prenatal check-up in the afternoon.  Lord willing, there will be nothing else until the big day on Thursday!

I think Sunday evening Hubby and I are going to have our first and last real date night for a while.  Things are much smoother between us, almost like nothing ever went wrong in the first place, but I think this date night will be good for us and I'm definitely looking forward to it.

God is good all the time.  All the time, God is good.

Let the countdown begin.

Unless something else comes up, Peanut will make his debut on November 6th!
