Calm before the storm?

Believe it or not, my whole life hasn't been revolving solely around the bad stuff going on.

I'm still functioning at work.  I'm still taking care of myself.  I'm still parenting my children.  I'm still maintaining my home (or trying to...it's getting more and more difficult to get things done and as a result I can't keep up).

I was supposed to meet with my therapist a couple weeks ago, but she cancelled.  I have my next appointment with her on Thursday.  I haven't met with her in over a month, so I'm going to have to fill her in.  I'm not looking forward to it, mostly because I have no idea what she's going to say.

Now I want to do updates on happier things.

I had an appointment with the perinatal doctor and pediatric cardiologist a couple weeks ago.  Both appointments went well.  Despite all the known issues, Peanut is growing as he should be.  I think he's in the 63rd percentile for general size and the perinatal doctor said his abdomen is in the 90th percentile.  He referred to him as chunky.  He said I have extra amniotic fluid, which I already knew.  He said bigger babies tend to pee more which can cause that (I've never heard that before, but since the doctor said it...).  He said that babies with Down Syndrome can have a problem with the part between the stomach and the duodenum narrowing, which can cause a bigger abdomen, but he said he didn't see any evidence of that, so he's probably just a bigger baby (which is fine by me!).  I asked him if the fact that the baby is so active means that he might not have muscle tone problems, but all he could tell me is that it means that he is developing well neurologically.

The cardiologist was happy that his heart hadn't changed.  The defect is still simple.  The two bottom chambers are still about the same size, which is what we want, and the pulmonary artery and aorta are a beautiful size, as she put it.  She also said that there are no valve leaks.  I don't know how that is possible, as nothing seems to be attached in there, but she showed me the color flow thing and it showed only the blue color flowing through, which is what we want to see.

So I am very pleased with how he is doing.

Work is going okay.  I got another raise over a week ago, which made me feel like things were going great, but then last week I felt like they were coming down pretty hard on me.  I think the powers that be are under a bit of stress, so it gets transferred to us in some way or another.  As a result, I'm trying to lay low and become invisible for a while.

Things seem a little more calm at home.  Of course, things seemed to blow up after the last time I said that, but it's how it is right now.  I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow, so the same thing could happen.

I think that's it for now.  I need to update more often so I write shorter entries.
