I've been divorced since August 30.
I met a guy about a month ago online.
I used to be a member of a website that used quizzes to determine things about your personality, so I rejoined and took some quizzes and figured, why not go ahead and fill out the profile part and see what happens?
I think I was on there for a week (maximum) when he sent me a message. He didn't ask anything about me, he just wanted to know how old my kids are. So I replied, thinking that was it and he'd go his merry way and I'd go mine, but he kept responding and asking more questions.
I don't know how long it took before we started sending text messages back and forth and then talking on the phone...maybe 2 weeks for all of that. Once we started phone chatting, we talked every night.
Then, exactly 3 years after I left X (formerly STBX), we had our first date. It didn't exactly go smoothly, but I still enjoyed his company and he wanted a second date.
A week later, we had our second date. It went much better. We went to dinner, then saw a movie, then went to a little coffee shop and just sat and talked. Before the movie had even started, he was asking for a third date.
Our third date was a week later and we played a game of miniature golf (he won by two strokes), then hit some balls at the driving range (he said I would kick his butt in a real game of golf), then had dinner and sat in another coffee shop to talk. That night, he told me that he was ready to be mine if I was ready to be his, so we became exclusive.
Come to find out, in both of our minds we were exclusive anyway. I know once I have my eyes set on someone, the rest of the world fades away and I don't notice other men.
Our fourth date is on Monday. I am so stinkin' excited!
He's really tall and thin, but not too thin. He smells so good and likes to hold my hand. He gets uncomfortable if we make eye contact for too long. He wants to talk to me every night for hours. He has a wonderful smile and his eyes remind me of a tree--brown in the center and green around the outside. He squeaks when he laughs and it's the cutest thing. He has also been married and has sole custody of his 5 year old son. It melts my heart when I hear them interact over the phone. He's indecisive just like I am. He took me out to lunch the other day...drove all the way to my work on his day off, and it was his idea.
He's such a guy. He likes to build things and play practical jokes on his best friend and do things outdoors. If you were to look up "man" in the dictionary, I'm pretty sure his picture would be there.
Sometimes when I'm out with him, I look at him and can't believe he's real. He's from the city where X used to live, so I have a fear in the back of my mind that it's just a hoax.
We've already admitted that we're falling for each other. Or I'm pretty sure I've already fallen.
I've never felt this way about anyone. It makes me wonder what it was that I felt for X. I genuinely care about this man. We're so much alike and we're on the same emotional page.
I know it seems fast (the falling part), but I think we're taking it pretty slowly. He doesn't ask about sex. He knows where I stand on that and he respects it.
I'm really excited to see where this goes.
All I know is that regardless of what happens, I'm already a better person because I met him. I know that I can feel again. I know that there are great men still out there. I know that I'm not as broken as I thought I was.
